What: Gay Shame is holding a meeting to open a dialogue with the residents of the Lower Polk area, discussing the gentrification (the redevelopment of "run-down" or "undesireable" buildings with the ultimate goal of creating a new neighborhood whose property values are higher and whose businesses generate revenue for the City; this process holds brutal reprocutions for poor residents, minorities, low-income people living with medical conditions, the homeless, small business owners and yes, even many of the non-profit organizations which wouldn't exist without their constituents who are in danger of being run out of the neighborhood.) We have been aware of many recent changes to the neighborhood and want to hear what the other residents have to say, together we can make our presence felt.
